HISTORY WEST TOUR
The History West tour concentrates on Melbourne’s growth from the western side of Hoddle’s 1837 Grid and the central city area. You will learn about the unique creation and development of Melbourne over the last 180 years and see examples of the wonderful architecture that grew from the ‘Marvellous Melbourne’ of the 1880s in particular the superb commercial buildings.
HISTORY EAST TOUR
The History East tour takes in what was the newer and less expensive side of the grid Robert Hoddle laid out in 1837. Following the ‘Marvellous Melbourne’ boom of the 1880s, this area would become very sought after later in the 19th Century. See some stunning architecture from the Art Deco buildings of Collins Street to the magnificent Parliamentary precinct.
